A RICH HISTORY FOR CHRISTCHURCH TAXI COMPANY
Blue Star Taxis has been servicing the Canterbury region for over 80 years. We are Canterbury owned and operated with a passion for providing safe, reliable transport to our fellow Cantabrians and all visitors to this beautiful Garden City.
From its very inception in 1929 Blue Star Taxis has been built on the basis of operating a fleet of owner operated taxis. Each shareholder may only own one share and each share allows one vehicle to be operated. This business model is still in place today and would be fairly unique amongst other New Zealand Taxi Companies. The business structure means that Blue Star Taxis passengers can often be assured that the person driving their cab is the actual cab owner.
In 1929 Blue Star Taxis was created with 15 owner operators, in 1930 the first night shift drivers were employed and in 1947 Blue Star Taxis became the first taxi company in the South Island to introduce two way radios.
Today we are the largest taxi company in the South Island. We pride ourselves on our reputation for service and reliability, and we make sure that we provide each and every client with an exceptional experience when they travel with us.
Blue Star Taxis are the exclusive taxi company for all major events in Christchurch. These include Riccarton Races, Cup Week, The Buskers Festival, and Ellerslie International Flower Show. Blue Star Taxis also service the cruise ships at Lyttelton & Akaroa Harbour.
A TAXI SERVICE SECOND TO NONE
Blue Star Taxis reputation is built on Service. For over 80 years Blue Star has had a system of continual service improvement. To have survived the deregulation of the taxi industry Blue Star Taxis have found that it is Service that separates Blue Star Taxis from the other Taxi companies in Christchurch. Our band of drivers are worth their weight in gold! They are knowledgeable, friendly and prepared to go that extra mile. This is the core philosophy behind the service offered by Blue Star Taxis.
Blue Star Taxi drivers wear the company uniform at all times and are easily distinguished from other taxi drivers within the Christchurch area. Drivers are expected to get out of the vehicle and open doors for customers as well as providing assistance to load and unload luggage. All drivers carry a white board for Meet & Greets as well as an umbrella for inclement weather.
We’re sure you’ll be impressed by our service.
