Recently Taxi operators from seven of the largest companies in New Zealand changed the top lights on their vehicles from their old livery to a distinctive Blue Bubble.  The change affects a total of around 2000 taxis, including the 225 strong Blue Star Taxis, Auckland Co-op, Wellington Combined Taxis, Dunedin Taxis, Napier Taxis which is now Hawke's Bay Taxis, Nelson City Taxis and Tauranga Mount Taxis.

The Blue Bubble brand is a customer focused initiative. The Blue Bubble is a "quality alliance" that will allow seven of the industry's leading companies to market their services collectively without sacrificing their corporate independence, local fare structures or transgressing monopoly laws.

Taxis displaying the Blue Bubble will all adhere to the same standards of services and dress code. This will be of equal value to locals and visitors when traveling through the country.
